  • 1 tsp of jeera cumin seeds

  • 2 tbsp of oil
  • 1 tbsp of haldi turmeric powder
  • 3 green chillies chopped
  • Salt to taste

  • Now that we have our ingredients ready, let's get started with the recipe:
  • Rinse the masoor dal thoroughly with water until the water runs clear.
  • In a kadhai add the 2 cup masoor dal and 2 and half cups of water
  • Cook the dal on high heat until it's almost fully cooked.
  • This should take around 15 minutes.
  • Once the dal is almost cooked, add 3 cups water, chopped green chilies, haldi, and salt to taste, and cook for 5 minutes
  • In a separate pan, heat the oil on medium heat.
  • Add the dry chili and 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds to the oil and saute for a few seconds until the generate starts to sizzle.
  • Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan and cook until the tomatoes are soft and mushy.
  • Add the cooked dal to the pan with the tomato mixture and stir well.
  • Cook the dal on high heat for another 7-8 minutes until it's fully cooked and the flavors have melded together add fresh chopped coriander leaves
